The only place you’ll find data for TIMING AND VERTICAL ACCURACY
-
TIMING
Timing is an essential part of hitting. While tracking games with Hitting Approach PRO, you will be asked whether a hitter was on time, early, really early, late, or really late. Timing is tracked on a 5-point scale beginning with -2 (really late), and finishing with 2 (really early). The goal is to be on time (0). Adjustability can he seen through data when a hitter is consistently not on time with their body, but continues to hit balls hard.

VERTICAL ACCURACY
Barrel accuracy could be single most important piece of the puzzle that isn’t tracked anywhere as consistently as it is here. At all levels, swings and misses and foul balls lack context—where they popped up, missed under, over, squared up, etc. Every swing helps complete the picture of why a hitter or pitcher is making outs or not getting outs. Vertical accuracy is on a scale, much like timing. Every swing is assigned a value—negative values are misses under, and positive values are misses over. The goal is to be close to zero, which is squared up.
